Texas Legislature’s Inaction Disrupts plans for Katy ISD Virtual High School
Katy ISD has just announced that it will not be offering a virtual high school option for the 2021-2022 school year. This is due to the fact that the program did not receive funding from the state.
The Texas State legislature just ended their regular session on May 31st. At the end of their session, they determined that they would not pass legislation which would appropriate funding for online learning service, through their public school districts.
Regardless of the outcome, Katy ISD is looking forward to welcoming students back to school for the 2021-2022 school year, starting on August 18th.
KISD students who are interested in taking supplementary classes on the side will still be able to do so through Katy Virtual School. The district is waiting for more guidance and legislation in regards to virtual schooling as an offering.
