Katy Teachers Shop For a Great Cause
Some Katy Independent School District teachers and administrators began the week donning dazzling Kendra Scott fine jewelry.
They had taken part in a recent Kendra Gives Back Week, where during five nights, teachers from one of each of five schools chosen by the Katy ISD’s Education Foundation visited the jewelry store to receive 15 percent off of their purchases.
The Katy ISD Education Foundation — an organization whose mission it is to raise money and support for classrooms and to manage its grant program — organized the glamorous social charity event, partnering with Kendra Scott.
Janet Theis, executive director of community partnerships for the foundation, said 20 percent of the sales went back to Katy ISD: Ten percent of the purchases went to the campus who participated on the individual night, while the remaining 10 percent went to the Education Foundation.
The grant funds can be used for innovated projects in the classroom, Theis said.
