Katy Rice Festival Goes Virtual

Katy’s anticipated and historic annual Katy Rice Festival will be virtual this year due to COVID-19. The city is committed to continue the tradition with an online craft market, live-stream band performances and other family-fun activities.

Katy was considered the “Rice Capital of the World” and continues to celebrate their commercial growth and development. The Katy Rice Festival has traditionally been held in downtown Katy. The city of Katy and the Katy Rotary Club have hosted a three day celebration consisting of parades, live music, , arts and crafts, carnival, food trucks and beer garden. The event has drawn crowds up to 45-50,000. Proceeds from the event have gone back to the community.

The city of Katy feels the show must go on this year with a continued celebration of heritage and support of local businesses. Plans are still in the works for the virtual celebration in October. Stay up to date by following The Katy Rice Festival’s Facebook page.
