Katy ISD Provides Students With Needed Technology
Katy ISD efforts to provide education online during COVID-19 has resulted in a distribution of approximately 12,000 technology devices and hotspots to assist students in accessing their online curriculum.
Even in homes with devices available, there may be conflicts with parents utilizing laptops for work or multiple siblings needing access to their studies. While many students have smartphones, they are not conducive for required school work.
Teachers are able to monitor which students are not signing in and completing their assignments. The teachers can use this information to inquire about their access to technology or WIFI.
In order to keep track of numerous devices, the IT department has developed an efficient system for check out and safe delivery. Katy ISD is able to deliver 300 devices per hour with the delivery system in place.
Young Ranch students have the advantage of having a highly-ranked school district that is dedicated to their education and future. Katy ISD is working hard to make sure all students have them online access they need.
