Katy ISD Plans For Future Growth

Katy ISD continues to be one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas as a result of new communities and businesses continuing to move west of the Houston Metro area. Katy ISD currently serves more that 84,000 students and anticipates over 100,000 enrolled students by 2027.

The Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees met to discuss forming a Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) to review capital needs in consideration of a May 2021 Bond Referendum. Katy ISD is the sixth largest school district in Texas with 71 campuses and facilities. The CBAC’s planning will include capital needs for new schools and facilities and renovations needed to facilitate their growth. Additional funding will be needed for technology upgrades and safety and security projects.

Katy ISD anticipates being able to deliver a zero tax rate increase bond package. The CBAC will continue socially distanced meetings to make more in depth decisions regarding the bond package.
